Our Daily Bread

"I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears."

"The poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles."

"The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them."

"O taste and see that the Lord is good:  blessed is the man that trusteth in him."

"O fear the Lord, ye his saints:  for there is no want to them that fear him."

Psalms 34: 4,6 -9 (kjv)

Here we see that the Lord is not slack concerning his promises to hear those that are faithful and reach out to him. Yes we sometimes question why we are hurting or suffering and for what seems an eternity.  It is not His will for us to suffer or hurt, yet there are times that we must until; He says it is "enough."  When He is ready to deliver; He delivers and it is done with recourse.  That is what makes chills run down the spine, because when He says it; it is done.  The hurt subsides, life rushes back to existence and we see hope.

We can go through trial after trials, but when He looks down in His infinite mercy and looks into the heart that is tired and we have touched the hem of His garments....we know who lifted the burden.  The relief is astounding and we praise the One who died for us.

A little further down in the chapter of Psalms; David gives this admonition:

"Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.  The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry."  Psalms 34: 14,15

So many times we are not where God wants us to be, therefore when we cry, first we have to repent for our lack of being where we need to be.  Walking, perhaps a far off like the children of Israel.  We can't expect Him to answer when we call if we are walking at a distance and only hanging on by a thread.  He expects our full attention and worship. He is there for us, but not "just when we need Him, only."  He wants us to be faithful...all the time.

Further down David gives his interpretation of how the righteous will receive, what they asks for:

"The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles."

"The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit."

"Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all."

"He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken."

Psalms 34: 17 -20

We have every promise as the seed of Abraham, but we have a duty as well to be in a position to call upon Him and expect His deliverance immediately.  If we are walking a far off, we know that we are the one who has failed; not the Lord.
