This post is dedicated to "Faith."  We have mentioned it in previous ones but the extent of how big a roll faith is in our life, we want to give it adequate attention.  We can be sure this post will not begin to tell us all there is to know about something so great as faith.  It is a necessity, it is without saying, and we should not be without it. Very often it is hard to focus on our faith or the meaning of it.

The human being is often deceived. If we can't see it, we sometimes fail to believe it.  If it doesn't produce what we want, we become doubtful.  We have to grow in faith and understand how it works.  Faith is not to give us what we want, it is to allow us to have what we need. Faith can save the sick, faith can heal a broken heart, faith can give us hope, when there is none.  Faith must be a constant companion for all those who trust in Him.

Explanation of Faith:

"Faith is the substance of things hoped for; the evidence of things unseen."  Hebrews 11: 1

"Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear."  Hebrews 11: 3  v6:

"But, without faith it is impossible to please him, for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him."

"So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." Romans 10: 17

"Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.  But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?"  James 2: 20

Living and Conquering by Faith:

"For we walk by faith, not by sight."  2 Cor 5: 7

"The just shall live by faith."  Ga. 3: 11

"In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith in him."  Ephesians 3: 12

"Let you conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me."  Hebrews 13: 5, 6

Difference Between Faith and Belief:

"Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works:  show me they faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.  Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well:  the devils also believe, and tremble."  James 2: 18,19

It is easy for those of us who have walked awhile as a Christian to have more faith. For those who have not, it seems just as easy for them to put aside this thing called faith.  It is quite frustrating sometimes when we want to give our faith and knowledge to others, and they do not want to receive it. Faith is such a blessing and gives added hope to any life.

Our faith does not come easy when every thing around us is going ballistic.  We begin to wonder where God is.  Is He listening to our plea?  We need answers, we need deliverance and we do not get it when we want it. This is when we have to know that having faith does not give us what we want or need, in our time-frame. It is all about God's timing, not ours.

We have to trust God's plan, His timing and His answers.  His answers may not be the answers we wanted or thought we needed.  When we do not get the answers in our timing, He is possibly teaching us patience.  We cannot have faith and not believe at the same time. We must have faith when it looks like we are lost without a lifeboat.

Sometimes we get into trouble we brought on ourselves. When we have become slack in our service for the Lord and are not "Faithful" in following His purpose for us, we cannot expect His answers to be on our terms. We get into hardship due to our actions, we must remember that actions have consequences. Often those consequences debilitate us. The Lord will allow us to learn from our mistakes. The prayer of a righteous man, availeth much.

That said, we must repent for our shortcoming and whatever brought us to where we are. His mercy and grace if sufficient for all things.

God knows what is good for us and what isn't, therefore faith does not work to our advantage because we think we deserve it. How could we deserve a man dying on the cross of Calvary so that we might have life. We do not, but He died for us so that we might be saved. That life does not mean that we must have what we want, but He has promised we will have what we need when we live that life for Him.

That is not the kind of faith the Bible is talking about.  Yet again, I have seen what happens when we are determined to do something without God's approval. We get what we ask for and lo and behold; it was a bit more than we expected, and all of it was not that good. It is always in our favor to know that what we think is best for us is approved by God, Himself.

Faith is:

  • Faith we need to be saved and please God.
  • Faith we need to see our needs, not desires met.
  • Faith is what we must have to keep on living when we have faced a tragedy or life altering event.
  • Faith is not what we see, it is the results of what we do not see, but believe.
  • Faith we must have to know that nothing last forever, except God's gracious love.

Faith will carry us to the next phrase of our life when we don't know which turn to make.  He knows, and if we trust His knowing, our conflicts in life will be far less. Faith is the essential part of our Christian life.

As the scripture say:  "Faith is the substance of things hoped for; the evidence of things not seen." Hebrews 11:1

Final Thoughts Worth Believing:

"When you have come to the edge of all light that you know and are about to

drop off into the darkness of the unknown.  Faith is knowing, one of

two things will happen:  There will be something solid to stand

on or you will be taught to fly."

"Faith isn't faith until it's all you're holding on to." unknown

God's love is real! Have faith.
